Getting Started
Thank you for taking on the role of Team Manager! Your time and effort are greatly appreciated, and your support plays a key role in creating a smooth and positive experience for our players, families, and coaches.
Depending on your head coach, the roles and responsibilities for a manager may differ. Be sure to speak with your coach and clarify expectations & communication.
The Team Manager generally handles the following:
- Communications with Coaching staff, Barons Administration and Parents.
- Coordinate team hotel arrangements for out of town travel, team meals, etc.
- Gather USA Hockey information and provide to Barons Program Manager. Maintain any roster updates and ensure coaches credentials are up to date.
- Determine team budget with Coach.
- Coordinate team fundraising, if necessary.
- Maintain scoresheets.
- Schedule Parent meetings.
- Schedule clock/scorekeeper, person to run music, and penalty box person for each home game.
- Organize team games, events, and collect money as needed based on budget.
- Report any SafeSport violations in accordance with the SafeSport Handbook.
Manager/Volunteer Requirements
The Cleveland Barons and USA Hockey require the following items in order to be a Team Manager or Volunteer:
- USA Hockey Registration as an Off-Ice Manager or Volunteer (required every year).
- Mid-American Hockey Background Screening (required every two years)
- USA Hockey SafeSport Online Training (required every year)
- Managers: Concussion Certification (required every year)
- Managers: Lindsay's Law (required every year)
